Building Committee Update - June 7
King David raised the necessary funds and procured all the necessary materials and land to build a temple to honor God. His successor, King Solomon, completed the temple.
Temples and churches are not built primarily as a gathering place; foremost, they are built to honor God. When we keep this thought in our hearts and minds, we truly understand what we must do. I have talked before about the beacon a church can be for those searching; their purpose is to find God in His house - in finding this, they are also offered the gift of a community who built the house they have searched for.
I have heard it said that our financial goal will take a long time to achieve, I believe it just requires a concentrated effort. When I hear that it took us ten years to raise $2 million dollars, that is not exactly true. Most of those funds were contributed to the fund before the building committee was formally established. So, here we are, starting with land, and $2 million dollars to get the process started. To raise the remaining funds, and to move toward the procurement of materials to build a church to honor God, to give Him his place of honor within the Chestermere community.
You can donate to the Building Fund ONLINE, as well as by “Tap” at mass.
Pledge cards are available at all masses.

Mount St. Francis marks the Jubilee Year of St. Francis
|
From Jan 10, 2026 to Jan 10, 2027, the Church celebrates a special Jubilee Year marking the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi.
Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre will mark the year with opportunities for prayer, pilgrimage, retreats, and community gatherings inspired by the Franciscan spirit. The faithful are invited to deepen their relationship with Christ through simplicity, care for creation, and service to others. This Jubilee invites not only celebration, but a deeper imitation of St. Francis through a Gospel life lived simply, faithfully, and daily.
